Let me first introduce myself. Since my late teens I have been a very keen non-league football supporter. The first team I ever watched was Bedford Town in the mid 70's. I now spend my time watching football at Plymouth Argyle (I know they are not non-league, but my grandson is a season ticket holder at Home Park), Yeovil Town and Taunton Town. It was as a Matchday Programme Editor that my journey with Fantasy Football began some 26 years ago.
I developed the idea of the competition to help sell Matchday Programmes and that is how it all started with just 94 competitors entering it back in 1997. The top prize in that first year was just £100. Twenty six years on and my main competition which is called Fantasy Non-League runs in the Non League Paper and that carries a top prize of £1,000. It has been in the NLP for 18 years now and as every season passes the number of competitors grows and grows. Last season we nearly topped 1,200 players. So what is so special about my Fantasy competitions well in the national newspapers their competitions are based on players but mine is based on the teams and is completely Non-League based. You gain points from the teams results every week.
So why not give it a go, I promise you won't be disappointed.
I also have in the past run a very successful competition for a company in Wolverhampton called Lyreco. It was tailor made to their requirements and it had three very successful seasons. I can offer this to any company or organisation, it is self-funding and gives months of fun.
I have developed a new Fantasy Competition which is called Fantasy Football League and I have launched it this season. please check it out and give it ago.
Ian White.
